Chapter 8

1.) Wi-Fi is a substitute for IEEE, It always computers to talk to each other without wires. Some reasons for Wi-Fi disruption are wireless phone handsets, microwaves, and baby monitors. It happens because Wi-Fi uses an unlicensed spectra ( the 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz bands).

2.) You can check the logs of your router, check your computer software, or make your Wi-Fi a private network. You can hide your network or Encrypt you network.

3.) I agree 100%  with the author's point of view. They man should not have been charged $250.00 dollars for using someone's open network.

4.) You have to get a new phone number, sometimes it takes months to get a new number, you can't always keep your old number, and calling 911 doesn't work for VoIP services

5.)  follow the "only handle it at once rule" which means don't glance at an email then move on to the next one, delete it, answer it, let someone else deal with it, save it for reference, tag it for later action.

6.) Don't let spammers know you exist, don't ever reply to a spam or click the "unsubscribe" link, don't ever buy anything advertised via spam

Chaper 5

1.) If you get a questionable email you can go straight to www.snopes.com and see if it is a false rumor or a true fact. The website will let you know if the information you've received is real or not. One example is that people were receiving information that Walt Disney's body was frozen after he died. snopes.com proved this to be false. They said that it was true once that Rush Limbaugh once to a black caller to "Take that bone out of your nose and call me back"

2.) Open up your Firefox and go to the web page you want to save. Select "Save page as.." from the "file" menu and choose "Text" from the "Save as type:" pull-down menu. Mac users  have the option o saving a Web page as a standalone PDF file, which can be viewed with Adobe Reader or Apple's preview utility.

3.) You can find out how is supporting any political candidate and how much they contributed. You can also find out the contributors address. You can click on a neighborhood and see who is all supporting who. You can also organize block parties to raise money for your party or candidate. Jerry Springer donated $2,400 to Paula Brooks for congress.

4.) It helps you find music that you would like according to what you already like. I typed in Dave Matthews Band and a big map came up with little circles each one having a different artist in it that was connected to another one.

5.) A Bit Torrent is used to transfer large files without to much hard work. So TV shows the networks will post their shows so people can download them but sometimes it is not posted by the creator there for making it illegal to download.

chapters 3&4

2.) Proxy bidding is a system where you can pick an item on eBay that you would like to bid on then enter your starting bid. After you put your starting bid in you can enter the max bid you would be willing to pay for the item. Whenever someone else bids on that item the proxy bidding will automatically out bid that person if it is in the limits of your max bid. This saves you time in the long run so you don't have to stay on your computer during the whole bidding period. Proxy bidding does it for you.

4.)Triangulation is when you buy something off of eBay and the person who sold it to you used a stolen credit card so it gets traced back to you and you get arrested for receiving stolen property. To avoid this you should check your package and if there is no return address or its gift wrapped contact eBay right away before you open it.

5.) If you have Citi, Bank of America, or Discover you can login online and click safe shop then set a money limit to the one time use credit card number. This protects you because if someone steals it and tries to use it they will be rejected.

1. The IP address is a set of numbers that lets the network know where a computer is, its similar to a mailing address.  

Around the world there is a network of computers that are called Domain Name Servers and they hold the IP address of every registered web site

5. An easier way to make entries is to set it up with your email and you can email posts to your blog

6. Choose a name for your podcast, record your podcast, add the audio to your podcast, then publicize it
